Winter steam in China in january 2007. Chinese steam locos and freight trains, industrial and mine railway
systems, a journey leads to the last places and locations, where steam trains are still used for daily
operations. But even here the dark clouds of diesel are coming up. The Jixi coal mine railway
got their first diesel locomotives in may 2007 and due to the fact that in China a steam locomotive
is valorized as an antique thing, which has to be substituted, it has to be feared, that also
here the chimney has pushed his last steam. Historical responsibility, museal conservation of the
exhibits ... nil return. Better to go the way of old steel, the scrap dealer only waits to sell
the rests, which is very easy at the actual market situation.
